ABSTRACT
Granular myringitis is an inflammatory disease of the tympanic membrane, poorly recognized and unusual. It is clinically defined as
an entity characterized by deepithelization of the squamous layer of the tympanic membrane with granular tissue in its fibrous layer.
It is a process limited to the tympanic membrane and adjacent meatal skin, without affecting middle ear. Symptoms include chronic
recurrent otorrhea, aural fullness, hearing loss and rarely otalgia. This paper reports the case of a patient treated with boric acid and
makes a review of the literature; a diagnostic and therapeutic algorithm of this disease is proposed.
