ABSTRACT
Background: Rhinoplasty helps improving functional and aesthetic aspects in patients.
Objective: To describe the results of primary and secondary rhinoplasty.
Methods: A descriptive study was conducted at the Dr. Gustavo Aldereguía Lima General University Hospital of Cienfuegos. It included 139 patients undergoing rhinoplasty. The following variables were analyzed: type of rhinoplasty, type of anesthesia, surgical technique, and aesthetic results.
Results: According to the type of rhinoplasty 25 surgeries for bent nose were performed, 67 for basic rhinoplasties and 47 for tip rhinoplasties. For bent noses a novel surgical technique was used with excellent results, the basic rhinoplasty and the tip rhinoplasty were performed trough open endonasal way and local anesthesia was used. We performed 17 secondary rhinoplasties, for a second surgery was necessary for those patients.
Conclusions: Satisfactory results are obtained in rhinoplasty when using local anesthesia. The new proposed technique lead to satisfactory results.
