ABSTRACT
Hemineglect is the difficulty individuals present to get oriented, act or respond to stimuli or actions that occur on the contralateral side to a hemispheric lesion, which is not caused by elementary sensory or motor disorders. It has been typically described by lesions involving the parietal lobe, primarily the right one. In hemineglect, there is a loss of sensory input configuration to the brain, especially the neocortex; considering that the parietal lobes contain the body schema and mediate spatial perception, topography is often described precisely in them. We report the case of a patient with a combination of hemineglect and hemianopia, with lesions in several cortical areas. The patient showed almost all the features of the syndrome, nevertheless maintained intact reading-related functions.
