ABSTRACT
Purpose. Report cases of patients with aneurism of the abdominal aorta (AAA) treated with endovascular therapy in the Hospital San Jose TEC de Monterrey Interventional Radiology service. Identify the characteristics of aneurisms, the prostheses used, and the results obtained.Material and methods. Using the Hospital’s RIS-PACS system, we conducted a systematic review of cases of aneurism of the abdominal aorta treated with endovascular methods: size of aneurysmatic sac, characteristics of neck and damage to other arteries, endoprostheses used, and treatment outcomes.
Results. Eight 8 patients were treated using different prostheses (3 Excluder® Gore, 3 Endologix® Powerlink, 1 Zenith® Cook, and 1 Talent® Medtronic). We present an analysis of all the fundamental variables considered in planning an endovascular procedure and the outcome following placement of prostheses.
Conclusion. Endovascular treatment of aneurisms of the abdominal aorta is feasible and safe in experienced hands, although some cases present unfavorable anatomical features.
