ABSTRACT
Lichen striatus (LS) is an inflammatory, acquired, chronic and benign dermatosis, of unknown etiology and self-limiting. It’s true incidence is unknown. The histological picture is not seen as very specific and it is necessary to perform clinical-histopathological correlation.
Objective: To determine the frequency, identifying the topography, morphology, age at presentation, gender, histopathological findings and determine if there was clinical-histopathological correlation in patients studied in Centro Dermatológico «Dr. Ladislao de la Pascua» (CDP), in Mexico City.
Results: We found 59 cases diagnosed as LS, with a prevalence of 1:1000 biopsies, histopathological findings were acanthosis, hyperkeratosis, and perivascular infiltrates, clinical-histophatological correlation was 56%.
Conclusion: The frequency of LS is low, we found a greater number of adults affected and variety albus was more common for the type of population treated in CDP. We suggest that every patient under clinical suspicion of LS should be tested by a biopsy to verify this correlation.
