ABSTRACT
Background. Acute lymphocytic leukemia is the most common type of pediatric cancer (70%). Among its many presentations, ocular manifestations vary from conjunctivitis and anterior segment alterations to leukemic retinopathies and retina detachment. Leukemic infiltration of the optic nerve is unusual; its presence has a poor prognosis.Case report. We present a case of a seven year-old boy with acute lymphocytic leukemia evaluated by the Ophthalmology Service with a 5 day history of sudden loss of vision. Examination of the eye fundi showed a white infiltrative lesion on both optic nerves accompanied with peripapilar serous retina detachment.
