ABSTRACT
Acute aluminum phosphide poisoning is mostly lethal when ingested in suicidal attempt. This poison is a solid fumigant used like grain fumigant, highly potent toxic in all stages of insects. In human, death is reported to result from profound shock, myocarditis and multiorgan failure. The fatal dose for an average sized individual is believed to be 50 to 500 mg. The mortality rates is from 40 to 80%. The acute aluminum phosphide poisoning was the major cause of death among all poisoning. This fumigant has been frequently used like the most self-aggression method in attempt suicide in young and adolescents from rural zones. Is necessary to know the characteristics of this poison and the damage in person who ingest it. The general therapeutic recommendations and advanced extracorporeal organic support may change the course and prognosis of the disease and increase the survival of patients.
