ABSTRACT

A joint meeting of the XXXIV Congress of the International Society of Hematology (ISH) and the LIII Congress of the Agrupación Mexicana para el Estudio de la Hematología (AMEH) was held in Cancun, Mexico, from April 25^th to 28^th, 2012. This is the third time a World Congress of Hematology is held in Mexico. It was attended by 1204 people; 1057 of them were academic delegates. Most of the attendants (84%) came from the Interamerican Division of the ISH, but members of the European-African Division and the Asian-Pacific Division also turned up. All the registrants to the Congress became members of the ISH. Seventy professors from fifteen different countries were invited to lecture in 23 academic symposia, three plenary lectures and twelve breakfasts with experts. Two hundred and thirty four papers were presented (32 oral presentations and 202 poster presentations).
