ABSTRACT
The use of neuroimaging studies to analyze brain function is currently applied in a routinary way in many clinical circumstances, such as in the presence of intracranial tumors. With functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) physiological, as well as anatomical information can be obtained. This opens new perspectives for further diagnostic possibilities. This paper is a prospective, longitudinal study of 20 patients with intracranial neoplasms. Conventional magnetic resonance images (MRI) as well as fMRI studies were analyzed and the diagnosis confirmed by histopathology studies. Benign, as well as malignant characteristics and differences between recurrence, residual tumor or tumoral necrosis are analyzed.
