ABSTRACT
Cancer that arises in the gallbladder is rare. The most common symptoms causing gallbladder cancer are jaundice, pain and fever. In patients whose superficial cancer (T1 or confined to the mucosa)is discovered on pathological examination of tissue aftergallbladder removal for other reasons, the disease is often curedwithout further therapy. In patients with symptoms, the tumor is rarely diagnosed preoperatively. In these cases, the disease is incurable, and you can not remove the tumor completely by surgery. Though palliative measures may help these patients. For patients with T2 disease or greater, an option may be extended resection with partial hepatectomy and portal node dissection. Cholelithiasis is an associated finding in most cases, but less than 1% of cholelithiasis patients with this cancer.
