ABSTRACT
Among the main causes of death and human diseases are mainly the formations of the processes of malignant tumors. Taxoids are a group of diterpene compounds characterized by the presence of a taxoid skeleton; they are mainly isolated on the bark of
Taxus trees. Taxoids, such as paclitaxel and docetaxel, are of great medical importance and are used as anti-cancer agents in breast, lung, ovary, prostate cancer as well as AIDS-related Kaposi´s sarcoma. In this review, the only biological action mechanism of paclitaxel, taxotere, and the semi-synthesis are detailed as well as detailing just the biosynthetic route of the main taxoids.
