ABSTRACT
Bilateral symmetry is the body pattern that is required for mammals, including humans, develop paired structures, such as arms and legs. Instead, the asymmetry results in the localization of certain organs to the left side as the heart or to the right, as a liver. Both processes are determined from very early stages of embryonic development and are dependent on expression of cascades of genes in specific regions of the body. A mistake in the mechanisms involved in establishing these patterns could easily be overlooked for the individual or circumstances lead to pathological severity.
