ABSTRACT
Ipsilateral intertrochanteric and femoral shaft fractures are a rare event as resulting from high velocity impacts, usually motor vehicle accidents. There are no reports in the literature on this kind of fractures in both extremities. Management of ipsilateral cases is a controversial issue among authors. We report a case of a 31 year old man that was involved in a car accident and suffered bilateral intertrochanteric and femoral shaft fractures (mirror image), associated injuries to other systems. The patient was treated with bilateral DHS nail-plates to fix both fractures in each leg, his outcome was satisfactory.
