ABSTRACT
Diabetic foot ulcer is one of the complications that increase the number of admitted patients. The presence of other risk factors and associated diseases hinders the prognosis of the patient and is a real challenge for the medical team in charge of these cases. The application of the traditional fundamentals of treatment for diabetic foot in the clinical setting leads to satisfactory recovery, lower costs from complications and higher survival rates. Current experiences encourage the participation of multidisciplinary teams in the diabetic foot care services. There are few studies that address the possible impact of the intensive management of cardiovascular risk in patients with diabetic foot. This article emphasized the need for intensive intervention strategies for glycemic control, risk factors and associated diseases during the hospitalization of patients with diabetic foot ulcers.
