ABSTRACT
The comprehensive formation of the students is the key objective of the educational-teaching process in the higher education. This presupposes to understand that the formation is not effective if it just takes care of assuring that the students will acquire certain pieces of knowledge and skills. The present paper was aimed at evaluating the implementation of and compliance with the curricular strategies in Rehabilitation I and II of the odontology studies. To this end, a descriptive and cross-sectional study was performed in 2011 on the basis of interviews to 11 professors from the denture department and to 80 third-year students from the Dental School of La Habana province. According to the results, the students admitted that the strategy for skill development in the handling of information and computing was the most used in the course of subjects. Over two thirds of the professors recognized that the level of evaluation of strategies was focused on specific topics of the subject, although all the professors stated that the strategies were implemented as a whole throughout the subject. It was concluded that the professors of the denture department do implement all the curricular strategies that are defined for this subject in the odontology career, but they are not fully capable of defining them in detail.REFERENCES
