ABSTRACT
Warthin’s tumor is the second more frequent benign neoplasm of the parotid gland. It prevales in the masculine sex in a relationship of 5:1 and the highest frequency occurs between the sixth and seventh decade of life. These tumors can be multicentral and appear in several regions of the same gland. In 6 to 10% of cases are bilateral. They originate in the ductal heterotopie glandular salivary tissue and in adyacente glands. Recurrences occur in 12% due to the multicentric characteristic of this illness. The etiology of Warthin’s tumor has been discussed widely, but it continues being object of controversy. Smoking is an important risk factor associated to the development of this neoplasm. The case of a 51 year old white man with bilateral tumors is presented. He was treated by superfical parotidectomy, first on the left side and two years later in the right. It evolved favorably withouth complications and integrity to both facial nerves.
