ABSTRACT
Understand and describe the illness experience of workers carrying nonspecific chronic low back pain resulting from an occupational hazard (LICDRT). Understanding the illness experience as the subjective and dynamic social phenomenon in which patients and their relatives, organize, interpret and express a set of feelings, moods, feelings and bodily changes, related events and / or derivatives of the disease and ttention, particularly whithin the structures, relationships and social meanings that determine. The study used the qualitative method from the perspective of grounded theory by Anselm Strauss. We conducted in-depth interviews, semi-structured to 6 patients in the metropolitan area of Guadalajara of the Mexican Institute of Social Security. The data were analyzed using grounded theory methodology, whit the support of software Atlas ti. Patients expressed their perception of poor security system, conflicts in the doctor-patient relationship, consisting of lack of credibility on the part of medical personnel to the symptoms experienced. They stated that the main symptom was pain and limitation for cargo handling. They emphasized the need for understandable information about the causes of pain and disease's development, as well as serious and humane treatment by the medical specialist. His feelings were sadness, depression and even suicidal thoughts. Expressed support of family and social networks. Presented a problematic relationship with their employers and no major economic consequences.
