ABSTRACT
Cerebral toxoplasmosis is an infection caused by the parasite
Toxoplasma gondii.
The transmission of
Toxoplasma gondii occurs by ingestion of oocysts excreted in cat feces, by ingestion of tissue cysts in undercooked meat or by vertical transmission. Although infection with this parasite is usually asymptomatic in healthy adults is an important cause of morbidity and mortality in immunocompromised patients, mainly with AIDS or organ transplant.
