A follow-up case of radiodermitis treated with rectus femoris and tensor fascia lata myocutaneous flaps

ABSTRACT

The case of a patient with diagnosis of groin lyposarcoma, treated with surgery and radiotherapy, that had caused secondary radiodermitis and radionecrosis with femoral vessels exposition is presented. It was handled with myocutaneous flaps of rectus femoris and fascia lata tensor. The evolution over a period of 16 years has been satisfactory, even though an edema of the secondary pelvic limb was developed to oncologic surgery, that required managing with compression mesh to this day. The flaps have been maintained without alterations, without problems of scarring, with an excellent cover and without functional limitations, therefore it is an excellent reconstructive option.
