Malt lymphoma in Gougerot Sjögren Syndrome

ABSTRACT
Sjögren Syndrome is a chronicle autoimmune disease characterized by the triad of queratoconjuntivitis, xerostomy and arthritis. Sixty percent of patients have salivary glands hypertrophy known as Mikulicz disease. The objective of this paper is to make a case of type Malt lymphoma known, an extraganglionar one (salivary glands) fixed in a Sjögren Syndrome which does not reveal any symptoms, does not disclose any affected ganglia. The aesthetic parothydectomy in this case allowed an early diagnosis and treatment. The case of a 49-year-old female with a four-year evolution Sjögren Syndrome is reported. She asked her face appearance to be improved decreasing the parothyd volume. The preoperatory evaluation included parothyd ultrasound, as well as hematology and oncology evaluations. A left superficial parotidectomy was performed; the histopathologic report was a Malt type malignant lymphoma. The specialist this patient was referred to made the estadification and the patient received chemotherapy. A six-month and one year follow up and chemotherapy were offered. A plastic surgeon’s intervention in this case was determinate for an early diagnosis and treatment.REFERENCES
