Use of colchicine as adjuvant in the treatment of recidivant keloid scar. A case report

ABSTRACT

Keloid scar is without doubts a difficult treatment pathology for plastic surgeons proof of this are the countless treatments that have been proposed and the aim at a definitive and ideal solution. In this work some of the therapeutic procedures are analyzed and the case of a 12-year-old patient is presented where after three previous treatments to control the tumor activity of the keloid with traditional procedures it is achieved, in conjunction with the use of oral colchicine. The increase of the alkaline phosphatase during its utilization is reported and the importance of monitoring the hepatic function treatments in patients using this medicine is emphasized.
