ABSTRACT
Children have different anatomical and functional characteristics from the adult. These differences, in case of a spasm in the lower or upper airway, can lead to disaster in the anesthetic act, if is not dealt properly. Due to this, the present article briefly reviews the differences of the pediatric airway in relation to those of the adult, and two entities the laryngospasm and the bronchospasm making emphasis on the definition, physiopathology, etiology, prevention and suggested treatment.
