ABSTRACT
Paracoccidiomycosis is an illness produced by dimorphic fungi (Paracoccidiodes Brasiliensis) that can affect various organs, among them skin and mucous membranes, lymph nodes, lungs, bones, adrenal glands, the vascular and central nervous system, the gastrointestinal tract, among others. It is an endemic illness of Latin-American countries, between the tropics of Cancer and Capricorn. The present study reports the clinical characteristics of seven patient cases in two hospitals in Costa Rica’s capital, San Jose, between January 1999 and December 2005.
