ABSTRACT
Pregnant women are exposed to all kinds of surgical diseases as non-pregnant women are and the biliary tract pathology is not the exception. Such pathology can be considered one of the most serious and dramatic diseases during pregnancy. For that reason, it was determined to conduct an updated review of that illness with the purpose of presenting the biliary disease during pregnancy and also to facilitate the clinician a guide that would help him/her diagnose it earlier and avoid fatal consequences for the mother as for the fetus. The biliary tract pathology during pregnancy has to be assessed in an adequate way, taking into account the presence of pregnancy and also the gestational age, and to decide if it is possible to offer conservative medical treatment or, on the contrary, apply a surgical treatment.
