ABSTRACT
The superior vein cava syndrome was initially described by William Hunter, in 1957, anatomist who conclude the findings in the systemic circulation secondary to the occlusion of the superior vein cava. This syndrome has been developed in the majority of cases secondary to a neoplastic etiology. The diagnosis of the syndrome is clinical and it is confirmed with help of imaging studies. The treatment must have one clear objective, it may seek for a complete healing of the patient if possible, if not it should be guided to palliative care and the reliefe of symptoms.
