ABSTRACT
OBJECTIVE: To characterize the acceptability of the therapeutic information bulletin for primary health care, published by the Center of Development of Pharmaceutical Epidemiology, by the health primary care physicians.METHODS: Nine provinces were included, from which 25 % of their health care areas were selected on the basis of a simple randomized sampling. The sample was made up of 605 prescriptors. Some specialists in the Center drafted the questionnaire that covered questions on the reception frequency, size, extension, typography, selection of topics, easy reading and usefulness of the bulletin. It was administered by the pharmaceutical epidemiologists in every municipality.
RESULTS: Over 80 % of the surveyed professionals said they had received the bulletin once; most of them (31.9 %) stated that the frequency was yearly whereas 15,9 % had received it every six months. As to typography, more than 90 % of the sample found it right or extremely right but 7.3 % classified it as inadequate. Of the surveyed people, 96 % believed that the addressed topics were generally interesting or very interesting and just 15 (2.5 %) found them uninteresting.
CONCLUSIONS: These results endorsed the acceptability of the Therapeutic Information Bulletin by the primary care professionals in terms of design and contents. This bulletin is very useful mainly for the formation, consultation and updating in therapeutics.
