ABSTRACT
Splenic trauma is a common clinical entity, in diagnosis and management of which computed tomography (CT) and the radiologist play a crucial role. The radiologist must take care to choose the study protocol that provides the greatest possible quantity of information, and must be familiar with the types of splenic lesion and their varied appearances in CT. In this trial, we will review anatomic and physiological factors that influence the appearance of splenic trauma in CT, and we will also address the issue of graduating the severity of damage and its importance in clinical decisions on management of such patients.
