ABSTRACT
The minimally invasive surgery has been proposed as alternative to reduce the
complications of conventional esophagectomy in patients with cancer. This is the
case of two patients operated on video-assisted esophagogastrectomy by means of
video-thoracoscopy esophageal mobilization, assisted video-laparoscopy
esophagogastrectomy and cervicotomy, one of them in 2008 and the other in 2009.
A male patient aged 45 presenting with epidermoid carcinoma of the inferior third
of esophagus, operated on sin surgical accident and also a fistula of the cervical
anastomosis as the only explanation. A male patient aged 64 with Barrer't
esophagus and severe dysplasia/ intramucosa carcinoma, non accidents who
became complicated due to a right pneumonia and cervical fistula. The minimally
invasive esophagectomy for treatment of esophagus cancer is technically possible.
