ABSTRACT
Hip disease has a high social impact because it affects a big number of patients, it is highly limitant and the treatment is expensive. Hip arthroscopy is a useful minimally invasive procedure that helps better understand the origin of hip pathology and has the potential of treating it before the onset of advanced degenerative joint disease. It is a safe and standard procedure if the proper technique for portal placement and arthroscopic examination is used. Specially designed instrumentation is required. Close follow-up will validate the role of arthroscopic treatment of hip pathology in the future
