ABSTRACT
Regenerative medicine is one of its main objectives the complete regeneration of a tooth. Significant progress made giving an optimistic view of tooth regeneration in the near future. However, yet been able to reproduce a tooth with specific morphological characteristics. Objective of study was to determine the trend of published on tooth morphogenesis to have a bellwether for the importance of the subject between scientific communities also denotes the effort of researchers. Publications were used from PubMed, HighWire Press and Scirus. Study includes two parts: the first analyzes the behavior of the publications its inception in the late forties until the first decade of this century. Second part analyzes the behavior of the literature on the subject during 2000-2009 including only articles. Result from first part show the oldest document from 1941, indicating that the topic of dental morphogenesis with lifespan of 69 years. The tendency of the publications from three databases turned up, showing in the decade 2000-2009 as many published documents. Second part shows irregular pattern in the behavior of the publications during 2000-2009, because it does not coincide with each database of peak years. PubMed forum 2004, 2005 and 2008 the most productive years. HighWire Press 2007 and 2008, and Scirus 2009. We decided to develop a common database, which settled for 693 references, which are mapped to the highest point of the curve in 2008, indicating that the trend scientific literature on dental morphogenesis is also rising over the last decade.
