ABSTRACT
Varicella is an acute viral exanthematic disease, common in childhood, with a high rate of complications, which may be fatal. These complications occur mainly in children with any kind of immunosuppression; bacterial infections are the most common. Since 1980, severe infections by Group A beta hemolytic streptococcus (GABHS) have resurged, affecting half of patients under 5 years with varicella. In order to remark that the best way to improve the prognosis of severe invasive infections caused by GAbHS is having knowledge of them and their early diagnosis and treatment, a review of these has been done.
