ABSTRACT
Foreing accent syndrome was first described in 1907 by Pierre Marie, it´s a rare speech disorder characterized by segmental and prosodical deficits without abnormal grammatical alterations, the patient´s speech resembles a non native accent. There have been 70 cases reported in the international literature.
Case report: 30 years old woman who presented Foreing Accent Syndrome in the postoperative period, she underwent a resection of a giant tumor located in the left insular lobe with involvement of the frontotemporoparietal region, plus oncological and neuroradiological management. Histopatological examination revealed an oligoastrocytoma grade II. There were no alterations in the communication and quality of life. The syndrome persisted for 4 months. This is the first case reported in Mexico.
