ABSTRACT
Fibroepithelial polyp (acrochordon) or skin tag is a very common benign tumor located mainly in neck and axillae, usually from 1 to 6 mm in size, however in vulvar region is less common to observe these tumors.
Case report: A 23 years old single nulliparous woman was admitted with asymptomatic vulvar tumor 7 years of evolution. Her history was cigarette smoking, menarche at 14 years, first sexual intercourse at 22 years, regular menses 30x3 associated with dysmenorrhea, no previous cervical cytology, withdrawal family planning method, weight 46 kg. height 146 cm. with a body mass index of 18.5 Physical examination revealed a papillomatous, soft, irregular, mobile vulvar tumor approximately 5 cm in left labia majora, with a 2 cm. sessil base. Total resection was performed under regional anesthesia within complications. Pathological examination revealed diagnosis of a fibroepithelial polyp (acrochordon) with no malignancy.
Although these benign skin tags are very common, generally are removed by excision or cauterized without histological study, in vulva is rare to find these polyps of this size as the present case. In addition, rare cases have been reported associated with malignancy.
