ABSTRACT

Introduction. The external ear is the most prone anatomic site to unfavorable wound responses, such as keloid. Earlobe keloids are serious, and the treatment is difficult. In this letter we present a case of earlobe keloid and combined approach to their treatment. Case report: 8 year old boy with keloid in the right earlobe secondary to a light wound 9 months before. He doesn’t have other abnormal scar in the body. The treatment plan included resection and reconstruction, therapeutic irradiation and reconstruction, therapeutic irradiation and light pressure. Results are included. Conclusion. Early diagnosis and combined approach that consisted of excision, reconstruction and irradiation, with long period follow up can improve results, with less recurrences.
