ABSTRACT
Sleep Apnea represents an agravating factor in cardiovascular disease. Several authors have propused Arterial Hypertension as the link between both conditions. However it is not frecuently mentioned that the treatment of the first disease is a valid and efective strategy for some hypertensive patients, especially those who suffer from obesity, sleepiness during the day and resistant hypertension. This review intends to establish the epidemiologic relationship between Sleep Apnea and Hypertension, as well as the physiopatological and clinical events that link them, and to show the positive effect of the treatment of Sleep Apnea on hypertension control in this group of patients.
