ABSTRACT
Justification and ObjectivesThe biggest risk to develop prostate cancer is age, it is not usually seen in men under fifty, it increases after 60 years old. During the last years, as a consequence of the introduction of the prostate-specific antigen (PSA), computerized transrectal ultrasound (C-TRUS) guided biopsies and digital rectal examination, the early diagnosis of the prostate cancer has considerably improved in contrast to the past. The objective of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of the computerized transrectal ultrasound (C-TRUS) guided biopsies in the detection of prostate cancer. The BPH and the prostate adenocarcinoma were the most frequently diagnosed in this study, the majority comes from a range of ages between 61 to 70 years. In the physical exam, the digital rectal examination grades I and II, a determination of PSA among 4 to 10 ng/ml and the presence of the ultrasound for a heterogeneous glandular texture were the most common indicators of prostate cancer.
