ABSTRACT
Acromioclavicular dislocation is one of the most common injuries in the shoulder and can cause deformity as well as limit the range motion when treated conservatively. This injury can be treated in different ways. The objective of this case is to evaluate effectiveness of the Weaver-Dunn procedure associated with a TightRope® suture to treat acromioclavicular dislocation. We present the case of a thirty-eight year old male, who suffered blunt trauma in the anterolateral region of the right shoulder that caused an acromioclavicular dislocation type V; we did a direct exposure of the lateral clavicle border and reduce the acromioclavicular joint with the Weaver-Dunn procedure associated with TightRope® suture, at the ABC Medical Center. The male patient resulted in a 100% reduction evaluated with an AP shoulder x ray, and post-traumatic correction of the clinical deformity. The Weaver-Dunn procedure associated with a TightRope® suture showed excellent results in treating acromioclavicular dislocation. In conclusion, we need to treat more injuries with this technique to establish a new way of treatment for acromioclavicular dislocation.REFERENCES
