ABSTRACT

Uveitis is inflammation of the middle layer of the eye, the iris, ciliary body and choroid. Today this term is also used when it an intraocular inflammation affecting the retina, arteries and veins. Acute anterior uveitis (AAU) is the most common form of uveitis and it is subdivided in iritis and iridocyclitis. Uveitis in general, often associated with systemic diseases, so it should be a careful history and physical examination as a first step to determine the cause of the disease and determine the appropriate treatment. The treatment includes drugs like cyclopentanehydrochloride, anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and corticosteroids.
