ABSTRACT

Currently, nursing has penetrated in the holistic medicine and alternative treatments to provide other choices within nursing care.
Healing Touch (HT) is an alternative method used in nursing; it has as its bases the flowing of energy that surrounds an individual in order to influence changes which impact in physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health. HT techniques are not invasive, they use hands direct or indirectly on the body to clean, to energize spiritually, and to balance energy that affects the individual physical, emotional, mental and spiritually. HT is based on a therapeutic relation in which health personnel and an individual share energy in order to favor health and treatment of the person. HT grants integral caring to the patient, improves their quality of life, helping to favor and to develop in the patient a mind-body balance. Therefore, far away from present perspectives, when applying HT, nursing personnel becomes a designer and a caring director through nursing process. This aids to systematize cares in order to solve in a scientific form the identified health problems in the patient. Through this article, it will be known the relation that exists between HT and nursing process, and also, tools that concentrate in the patient´s holistic caring, in their most integral dimension.
