Management of juvenile laryngeal papillomatosis with the combined treatment of intralesional cidofovir and bevacizumab

ABSTRACT

Human papillomaviruses (HPV) are the etiologic agent of multiple hyperproliferative mucosal and skin diseases as well, such injuries can range from mild dysplasia to squamous carcinoma. At present time there is no adequate treatment for HPV infections generated in the airway. We report the case of a 9-year-old girl with a stage laryngeal papillomatosis Derkay-Coltrera of 14, initiating treatment with an injection of cidofovir with a concentration of 7.5 mg/mL in the first session, followed by three injections of AvastinTM with a concentration of 15 mg/mL with a time interval of 21 days. We evaluated six months after the last application; the vocal cords are free from injury, with a normal voice.
