ABSTRACT
Background: Among the diseases are rare esophageal fibrovascular polyps, which are intraluminal benign tumors of varying sizes, measuring up to 20 inches long, according to publications of the cases reported worldwide.
Case report: We report a 18 year old with esophageal mass occupying the upper and middle third. Is performed excision of the mass through a right posterolateral thoracotomy and oesophagotomy vertical, closed in two planes esophageal parietal pleura. The postoperative course was satisfactory, achieving a normal way to feed. The pathology report was fibrovascular polyp measuring 16 x 6 x 4 inches.
Conclusion: These tumors will remain asymptomatic as long as the mass does not reach the size needed to cause symptoms such as progressive dysphagia.
