Gastric Stromal Tumor. A Case Report

ABSTRACT

Background: The last decade has been significant in the history of gastrointestinal stromal tumors, with advances in diagnosis as well as in risk stratifying models, which determine prognosis and have an impact on treatment strategies. The aim of this work is to present a case of gastrointestinal stromal tumor localized in the stomach and review of the literature.
Case report: We report the case of a 55-year-old patient with a gastric submucosal tumor, her clinical manifestations, diagnostic studies, and treatment. Preoperative endoscopy and Tomography suggested the diagnosis of stromal tumor which was confirmed by pathology and immunohistochemistry.
Conclusion: Oncologic surgery is the only potentially curative treatment for this condition.
