ABSTRACT
When a person is burnt, a series of processes aimed at maintaining internal equilibrium and restoring the damaged zone are activated. The possibility of survival of a burnt patient depends principally on the extension of the burn and the patients age. During pregnancy a woman increases her circulatory volume normally, with cardiovascular changes such as an increment in the cardiac output and blood flow at the pelvis, brought about due to the foetal and placental growth, besides blood hypercoagulability. These changes are emphasized during the second and third quarterly. When pregnancy comes to an end a hyperactivity of the suprarenal glands and the uterine nerve fibers, taking the message to the central nervous system for the liberation of vasopresine and oxitocine, that start the uterine activity. The motherly-foetal care should be carried out strictly. Early and adequate hydration, the burn wound early excision, the placement of skin grafts and opportune and good quality nutrition, are factors that allow regulation the inflammatory process brought about by the burn, improving prognosis.
