ABSTRACT
Reconstructive procedures to recover thumb function are index or another finger pollizitation, osteoplastic reconstruction, first toe free transfer and microsurgical wrapping technique or wrap-around. The latter this technique transfers a soft tissue segment from first and second toes over osseous graft, giving satisfactory aspect, having no movement. We report our experience with this procedure in four patients with traumatic thumb amputation operated on in the Orthopaedic Hospital “Dr. Victorio de la Fuente Narváez” of the Mexican Institute of Social Security. The results was considered excellent in three cases, with good appearance and movement; a case was considered regular, because it with flap partial necrosis and movement limitation. This evolving procedure with microvascular free transfer of the osteotendinous second toe skeleton is an excellent option surgical management in patients with thumb amputation.REFERENCES
