ABSTRACT
Nutritional control during pregnancy is of great relevance for proper product development; therefore obstetric multidisciplinary control should include nutritional guidance.
Objective: To study a group of pregnant women during prenatal control and its relation to weight of the newborn.
Material and methods: A descriptive survey, which included 110 patients under prenatal control, a question sheet for food intake, frequency was applied to determine the amount and diet composition. A descriptive statistic was used, as well as a
t test and a test of adjustment to the chi square distribution to determine significance.
Results: Low birth weight was of 9.09% similar to the national level reported. Comorbidity patients were also included (gestational diabetes, obesity and hypothyroidism); due to nutritional control during pregnancy the newborn weight was within normal levels.
Conclusion: Nutritional control by an expert during pregnancy is of vital importance to achieve an adequate weight in the newborn, including in comorbid patients.
