ABSTRACT
Donations of whole blood and apheresis are very safe, but adverse reactions are frecuently presented and have been documented over the years. The frequency, severity, intensity and duration of adverse reactions to donation have been classified in an effort to systematize its identification, reporting, assessment and treatment. In this article blood donations adverse reactions classifications are presented with some reports of its prevalence in the world and the experience reported in two donation centers in Mexico City.
