ABSTRACT
Introduction: The malign tumors of small cells of the toracopulmonar region were described for the first time by Askin in Lang, in 20 children and teenagers. The tumor of Askin is a strange neoplasia of the chest wall that belongs to the group of primitive neuroectodermal tumors that include, from the Ewing’s sarcoma to the neuroepithelioma. Its main characteristic is pain.
Presentation of the case: The case presented refers to a boy of three years old and ten months that begins his suffering with dyspnea with medium efforts, one week after being admitted, tracheal cough is added when coughing without expectoration, without loss of weight neither fever. In the RX study with the presence of a mass in right hemothorax.
Physical exploration: He is taken biopsy, which reports: Primitive neuroectodermal tumor (small and blue cells). Immunohistochemistry: CD 99 positive (95%), vimentina positive (95%), chromogranine positive (95%), what conforms the diagnosis of malign primitive neuroectodermal tumor (tumor of Askin).
