ABSTRACT
Objective: Knowing the sensitivity and specificity of ultrasound in the diagnosis of hepatic steatosis in our Hospital.
Methods: Thirty-six cases of patients who were conducted biopsy ultrasound-guided were reviewed. Reports of pathology and ultrasonographic were registered and compared.
Results: The ultrasonographic diagnostics and ultrasonographics pathology agreed in 32 cases (88.8%). Two cases were falsely positive (5.5%) and the remaining two were falsely negative (5.5%).
Conclusion: The ultrasonographic diagnosis is correct in most cases of hepatic steatosis, so that the usual use in the diagnosis of this pathology is useful and appropriate.
