ABSTRACT
Objective: To describe which are the new findings found in simple x-rays study with children diagnosed with arthrogryposis, assisted in the Hospital Infantil de México Federico Gómez.Material and methods: An observational, descriptive, retrospective and cross-sectional study was carried out in the Department of Biostatistics of HIM in the period from 2000 to 2006; 50 cases of arthrogryposis were detected, 37 had clinical-radio-delogical appropriate file for their radiological valuation.
Results: Of the 37 male and 24 (64.86%) female, a total of 13 (35.13%) of cases.
In this revision it was found that, the same as other authors, the articular alterations of limbs like equine varo foot, cubital deviation, hands flexion and congenital hip, thinned bones were the alterations mot frequently shown.
A very important group of patients presented soft tissues affection characterized by fatty infiltration and muscular mass decrease.
Conclusions: It was surprisingly drawing the attention that these alterations were not valued by the radiological neither clinical groups, for that, we consider that due to data obtained, it is necessary to carry out a careful exploration of the simple studies in the patients with arthrogryposis suspicion to establish an appropriate clinical-radiological correlation that may help to the diagnosis. For what is necessary that when taking the x-ray an appropriate technique is used that allows us to evaluate the soft tissues, thus obtain a better diagnosis.
