Infirmary care characteristics identified by the Institute user: a comparative study 2000-2005

ABSTRACT
Objective: To identify the characteristics of the care of infirmary according to the user.Participants and methods: Comparative study. We made a questionnaire with six variables that categorizes nominal variables, the questionnaire included the following variables in addition to the universal ones: place of application, type of rightful claimant, competent, efficient, opportune, friendly attention, suitable and humanitarian communication. We provided the questionnaire to the rightful claimants alphabets, of 18 years up, in the area of hospital, external consultation and emergencies, except: users who present some disease that avoids respond the questionnaire, and those who refuse to participate. Not answered and incomplete questionnaires were eliminated. It was done from October to November of 2000 and May to June of 2005. Descriptive statistic was performed; frequencies and percentage.
Results: The present investigation confirms a greater affluence of the feminine in the two stages of study and interviewed more users in the area of external consultation in the first stage and the service of emergencies in the second stage. The increase of positive answers in all the variables is well-known, having: competent attention, 8.5%; efficient attention, 14.7%; opportune attention, 25%; suitable communication, 15.1%; friendly attention, 28.7%; humanitarian attention, 26.9%.
Conclusions: Our results demonstrate a remarkable change in the care of infirmary evaluation by users. Perhaps the professionalisation, the improvement processes, and the program INDICA have influenced in this evaluation.
